OUT LAWS

In June 2022, Friedel Dausab filed a lawsuit against his government, aiming to protect many other citizens like himself, who suffer under the yolk of anti-LGBTQIA+ laws. His journey takes him all the way to England and traces the history of homophobia in the Global South to Tudor-era laws and present-day US evangelism.

Out Laws, James Lewis & Lexi Powner

Out Laws (2025) is a documentary that follows Namibian LGBTQ+ advocate Friedel Dausab as he attends a court hearing for the decriminalisation of same sex couples in his country. The lead on to the court date has a multitude of LGBTQ+ advocates carefully explain the disturbing history that colonialism played with influencing the extreme homophobic laws that now permeate the African continent. Out Laws can only be described as a deeply inspirational and educational documentary that is much needed today.
