Q&A: Amit Kaur

Amit Kaur is a filmmaker whose decade of international experience spans narrative and documentary storytelling across the UK, India, and the US. Her BFI Network-funded short CUPPA CHAI won at International Film Festival Glasgow and screened at Academy Award®-qualifying festivals including Oberhausen and Cleveland.

With extensive directing and production experience—including work on BBC/Netflix's A Suitable Boy —Amit's work celebrates the complexity of multicultural Britain. Her debut feature CROWN—exploring young immigrant experiences—is in development with the European CINEKID Lab, while her second BFI-funded short MOTHER ME is in pre-production.

As a Board Member of the UK Asian Film Festival, she leads the annual UK–South Asia Co-Production Market in partnership with BFI and Film London. Guided by the belief in “creating your own table,” Amit is dedicated to building platforms where diverse voices can thrive and stories transcend borders.
