Mother Mary, David Lowery
Mother Mary (2026) is a psychological thriller starring Anne Hathaway as Mother Mary - a distressed popstar, and Michaela Coel as Sam Anselm, a fashion designer who was once a close associate, now abandoned by the popstar. Mother Mary’s agony is cleverly displayed in the film using a red material, a ghost figure that symbolises the guilt and pain she carries due to her over-demanding job. This story is a presentation of the heartache within friendship breakups, and the healing process that follows. The prolonged dialogues and close ups made this movie more suited for theatre.
