Monalisa Chukwuma

Monalisa Chukwuma is a UK-based producer-director and photographer, and founder of Monalisa Pictures. Her practice explores memory, trauma, autobiography and archival absence through documentary and hybrid moving image. Her recent work includes Custodians (2026), created in collaboration with the 2025 Screen Heritage Ambassadors. She is also the maker of the feature documentary Portrait of an Unknown Woman (2021), which later expanded into a gallery installation (2022). Monalisa’s work is grounded in ethical, contributor-led storytelling and research-led practice.
