Joanna Boateng
Joanna Boateng is a BAFTA and RTS award winning producer and BAFTA breakthrough filmmaker. In 2021 Joanna produced UPRISING directed by Steve McQueen, a three-part saga exploring three key events in 1981 and how they affected race relations in Britain. The series went on to win a BAFTA for Best Factual Series in 2022. Previous credits include the Netflix feature documentary Nailbomber: Manhunt which was nominated for a BAFTA nominated for best single documentary and Grenfell.
In 2025 she produced Black is Beautiful: The Kwame Brathwaite Story on a little known but influential Harlem based photographer won the Audience Award at 2025 London Film Festival. Joanna's aim is to work on human- interest documentaries that depict marginalized communities with nuance and depth.
