Chee Keong Cheung
With over 20 years of experience in the industry, Chee Keong Cheung is an award-winning British-Chinese filmmaker whose work has captivated audiences worldwide. His impressive filmography includes collaborations with talents including Richard Dreyfuss, John Hannah, Radha Mitchell, Famke Janssen, Ian McKellen, Michael Madsen and Carlos Gallardo, among others. His feature action credits include, Redcon-1, Underground and Bodyguard: A New Beginning. His impressive portfolio includes writing, directing, producing and distributing and booking films across a range of genres, with a true passion lying in fostering new talent. Cheung has delivered masterclasses at prestigious institutions like the BFI and served on juries for festivals, including the Sci-Fi London 48 Hour Film Challenge, the Fighting Spirit Film Festival and the BFI Future Film Festival. He is also a mentor on the Film London Connect Mentoring Programme.
As the CEO of Action Xtreme, the genre division of Sovereign and the first action studio in the UK, Chee oversees the development and production of action content while actively supporting talent growth and development through various initiatives and events including the Women in Action Mentoring Programme and the launch of the world's first MA in Feature Filmmaking in partnership with Falmouth University.
Furthermore, Chee has played a crucial role in driving Sovereign's Distribution division, overseeing the successful release of numerous films and establishing valuable partnerships within the UK and global film distribution industry where he serves as head of distribution.
Chee currently has three upcoming features in post-production under the Action Xtreme label which he has directed and produced including, sci-fi horror The Experiment; POV action-thriller Bad Day at the Office; and the Nigerian-set action thriller Son of the Soil which was filmed last year, all scheduled for release in 2025/ 2026.
