Cecile Embleton

Cécile Embleton is an award-winning British-French documentary director. Her first documentary feature film, Mother Vera won the Grierson Award for best documentary at the BFI London Film Festival and first prize at Festival Dei Popoli. The film premiered at Visions du Réel in main competition, and was supported by the Sundance Institute, won first prize at Locarno First Look 2023 and the first look prize at the Hotdocs Forum 2021 during its production. The film also screened in main competition at Camera Image, Camden International Film Festival and Cork International Film Festival . In 2016, her directorial debut, “The Watchmaker”, screened at Hot Docs, Dok Leipzig and SXSW.
