Tuwaine Barrett
Tuwaine Barrett stars in Mike Leigh's "extraordinarily moving" 2025 film 'Hard Truths', playing Moses, the morose and withdrawn son of a depressed and irritable woman (played by Marianne Jean-Baptiste). The film is BAFTA nominated for Outstanding British Film.
In 2024 he had roles in two major feature films, biblical musical comedy 'The Book of Clarence' in which he played Samson and the Sam Taylor-Johnson directed, Amy Winehouse biopic 'Back to Black', in which he played legendary music producer Salaam Remi who worked on the Grammy winning album the film is named after.
In early 2022 he starred as Curt in the acclaimed BBC drama 'You Don't Know Me' about a young man accused of murder. Also in 2022 he starred as Cumberlidge, a loyal witchfinder's assistant, in the BBC Two comedy series 'The Witchfinder' from the writers of Alan Partridge.
He had roles in Netflix drama ‘Cursed’ as well as Marvel’s ‘Spider-Man: Far from Home’. He also had a role in musical crime drama 'Blue Story', written, directed and narrated by Rapman, which is the highest grossing British urban film of all time, winning Best Film at the NME Awards.
Other TV credits include ‘Silent Witness’, ‘A Discovery of Witches’ and ‘Rellik’.
He has performed in a number of stage productions, most notably ‘Barbershop Chronicles’ at the National Theatre and ‘Blue Orange’ at the Soho Theatre.
