Dr Priyanka Basu
Dr. Priyanka Basu is a Lecturer in Performing Arts at the Department of Culture, Media and Creative Industries, King's College London. Her first book, The Poet's Song: 'Folk' and its Cultural Politics in South Asia was published by Routledge in 2024 and was shortlisted for the David Bradby Monograph Award. In 2024, she was a Consultant Historian for The Secret Garden (adapted and directed by Holly Robinson and Anna Himali Howard) for the Regent's Park Open Air Theatre. In 2023, she was invited to speak at The Garden Cinema's South Asian Heritage Month: Stories to Tell season. She is a trained Indian classical Odissi dancer and has performed at the London Bloomsbury Festival, Season of Bangla Drama and Somerstown Festival. She researches on the cultural histories of theatre, dance and cinema.
