Dr Nobunye Levin
Dr Nobunye Levin is a filmmaker, scholar and lecturer. Her films and research are concerned with epistemologies from the Global South, experimental and radical cinemas, feminist filmmaking, and anti-racism. Nobunye is a Lecturer in Film Studies at King's College London. Prior to this she was a Lecturer in the Film and TV Department in the School of Arts at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, and a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Decolonising Screen Worlds in the ERC-funded “African Screen Worlds: Decolonising Film and Screen Studies” project, situated at SOAS, University of London. Her film Dreaming is serious work is forthcoming. With the filmmaker and scholar Palesa Shongwe, she has recently published “In Reverie: Two Love Letters to Vinah” in the PARSE journal (“Powers of Love”, issue 19, 2024) based on their video essay Reverie (2023).
