Dwayne gumbs

Dwayne is a writer & director who's passionate about the arts, having been inspired as a child he experienced first-hand how transformative and impactful it was to have a creative outlet.

In his role as Artistic Director of Diverse Voices they strive to ensure arts based opportunities are accessible for all. He has written and directed various educational films and theatre pieces, as well as curated schemes of work around sensitive issues raised in the content. They’re proud to be supported by the Fore Trust, London Community Foundation, Paul Hamlyn Foundation, Foyle Foundation and Garfield Weston to deliver our work with young people across London.

His first screen credit was a short film I wrote and co-directed called Holy Beef, which was screened at the BFI London Film Festival 2018 and the London Short Film Festival 2019. This led to an original concept of his being commissioned for development by BBC Film.

Currently he is working on projects for film and TV, he was recently shortlisted in the 2022-23 BAFTA Rocliffe New Writing Competition and selected to participate in the BBC Writersroom London Hub.
