Writers' Guild of Great Britain (WGGB) and The New Black Film Collective are delighted to co-host an exclusive panel discussion for their members:

WGGB x TNBFC: WRITE ON! INDUSTRY INSIGHTS PANEL

Join writers including WGGB's Film Committee co-Chair Tosin Otudeko (The Wedding Party, Over the Bridge), Matilda Feyiṣayọ Ibini (Sleepova, Little Miss Burden), and Jackie Okwera (Constantine, The Mallorca Files, Emmerdale) who will be sharing their insights into their writing careers and discussing some of the most important issues facing writers today - including equality, the funding crisis, censorship and AI.

This free, online panel discussion is open to members of WGGB or TNBFC.

Tosin Otudeko:

Tosin Otudeko is a writer, songwriter, poet and producer who has written and produced for film, theatre and TV. Her writing and producing credits include the musical Heartbeat, feature films Over The Bridge and The Wedding Party and album For The Love of Words and Music. Tosin has worked as a facilitator on the British Council Film Lab Africa with Iconic Steps and ELCA as well as consulting and management roles at Accenture, Lagos and Interact, UK. She set up the Garden Theatre to tell timeless original stories for a global audience. She is the co-Chair of the WGGB Film committee.

Matilda Feyiṣayọ Ibini:

Matilda Feyiṣayọ Ibini is a multi-award-winning, bionic writer and filmmaker of Nigerian heritage. Their acclaimed play Sleepova (2023) premiered at the Bush Theatre; won the 2024 Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in Affiliate Theatre and Most Promising Playwright Award at 2023 Critics' Circle Theatre Awards. Sleepova had its US premiere in 2025 at the Olney Theatre Center. Their work spans stage, screen and audio, including credits with BBC, Film4 and Amazon.

Jackie Okwera:

Jackie is a screenwriter with several projects in development, including a comedy-drama for ITV and her first feature film with the BFI. Her credits include Constantine (Bad Robot/DC Comics/HBO), The Mallorca Files (Amazon Prime) and Emmerdale (ITV). She has also worked in writers’ rooms for HBO, Apple TV, Disney, Netflix and Sky.Before moving into screenwriting, Jackie spent more than a decade in TV and film development. She began her career as a script editor in continuing drama before taking on development roles at several of the UK’s leading independent production companies.Jackie has been a BAFTA member since 2018 and was named one of the Edinburgh TV Festival’s Ones to Watch in 2021.
