Supergirl

Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl, joins forces with an unlikely companion on an interstellar journey of vengeance and justice when an unexpected adversary strikes too close to home.

Supergirl, Craig Gillespie

The off-world setting and rock-ready soundtrack give Supergirl (2026) an edge, while the untethered, mostly hungover Kara (Millie Alcock) is a refreshing contrast to her cameo-heavy boy scout cousin, Clark (David Corenswet). Kara reluctantly travels the galaxy with revenge-seeking Ruthye (Eve Ridley) and, through the pair, the movie thoughtfully explores the burden of grief. There are a few darker moments that Supergirl circles around but frustratingly doesn't know how to handle, using comedy to pull back when it should push forward. The result is a film that hovers around mediocrity when it had every opportunity to soar.
