Refugee Ramla Ali secretly pursuing boxing against her parents' wishes to become the first Somali-British professional boxing champion, while navigating love, racial and cultural barriers.
In The Shadows, Anthony Wonke
Written by Ursula Rani Sarma collaboratively with Ramla Ali and her husband Richard A. Moore, this tale captivates; inspiring fear, grief and pride. Jasmine Jobson portrays Ali with raw authenticity, opposite Finn Cole, who brings a gentle, all-consuming devotion to Richard. Hodan Yusuf performs Ramla’s mother, Fatima, mostly in Arabic, and demonstrates incredible emotional command. In The Shadows (2026) asks how far you’ll go to pursue a forbidden passion, telling a generational love story: between Ramla and Fatima, and Ramla and Richard.
