Dédy Bilamba

With a rich professional and personal experience acquired on three different continents (Europe, America and Africa), Dédy Bilamba is a passionate advocate of the entertainment industry.

Following a university education in France and a career as a seasoned marketing professional, he notably uses his expertise in culture.

Author of 3 books, including the biography of Rachel Mwanza translated into several languages, Dédy Bilamba is a talented writer, but film and television is what he is the most interested in.

In France, he began his career working on the hit television show "Le BigDil" (TF1), then at the Stade de France. In Ivory Coast, he wrote and co-produced several television shows and in Quebec he collaborated with the Vues d'Afrique International Cinema Festival, where he led the digital transition, as well as the Canadian Academy of Cinema and Television, where he was notably in charge of developing diversity in the industry.

From the diaspora, this Franco-Congolese living in Canada, uses his expertise and network to participate in the transformation of the African film industries.

Thus, as a consultant, he is involved in bringing together the African and North American film and television industries.

In 2022, he co-founded the AfroVFX initiative, whose mission is to revolutionize fim production on the African continent through VFX (visual effects), by offering free training, provided mostly by professionals from major Montreal VFX studios.

With the support of institutions and major players in the industry, AfroVFX has quickly achieved impactful milestones such as the production of VFX for series in africa (broadcasted on Canal+ or TV5 Monde) and short films.

By organizing events in Africa gathering seasoned VFX professionals, creative competitions and being featured in major industry researches such as the World VFX Atlas, AfroVFX is a unique initiative in Africa and recognized worldwide.

It is therefore by building bridges and taking on extraordinary bets that Dédy Bilamba is committed to transforming African audiovisual ecosystems and sharing this cultural wealth with the whole world.
