Two young brothers explore Lagos with their estranged father during the 1993 Nigerian election crisis, witnessing both the city's magnitude and their father's daily struggles as political unrest threatens their journey home.

Jermaine Canute Edwards is a Cinematographer and alumnus from the prestigious National Film and Television School in London. Jermaine's work as a Cinematographer has been shown in many festivals on both sides of the Atlantic, including Edinburgh International Film Festival, BronzeLens Academy Film Festival (Atlanta) and Urbanworld Film Festival (New York). Since graduating he has worked on numerous narrative projects including productions such as Matilda: The Musical (Netflix), Pride (PATHE) and Top Boy.
Jermaine's most recent work as a Cinematographer includes BFI feature project 'ISH' with Director Imran Perretta and 'MY FATHER'S SHADOW' for Element Pictures, with Director Akinola Davies Jr.
Jerry Chiemeke
Jerry Chiemeke is a Nigerian-born writer, journalist and film critic based in the United Kingdom. His writing has appeared in Die Welt, The I Paper, The Africa Report, The British Blacklist, Berlinale Press, The Johannesburg Review of Books, Culture Custodian, Olongo Africa, and elsewhere. Chiemeke’s work has won or been nominated for the Pushcart Prize, Ken Saro Wiwa Prize, Diana Woods Memorial Award for Creative Nonfiction, Best Small Fictions, and the Quramo Writers Prize. He is the author of the critically-acclaimed short story collection, "Dreaming of Ways to Understand You."For his work as a writer and critic, Chiemeke has been invited to the Sundance Film Festival, Berlinale, Toronto International Film Festival, BFI London Film Festival, Lagos Book and Art Festival, and Abuja International Poetry Festival.
Chee Keong Cheung
Chee Keong Cheung is an award-winning British-Chinese filmmaker with over 20 years of industry experience. His work includes collaborations with Richard Dreyfuss, John Hannah, Radha Mitchell, Famke Janssen, Ian McKellen and Michael Madsen, with feature credits such as Redcon-1, Underground and Bodyguard: A New Beginning. A multi-hyphenate creative, Chee writes, directs, produces and distributes across genres, with a strong focus on nurturing emerging talent. He regularly delivers masterclasses at institutions including the BFI and mentors through the Film London Connect programme.
As CEO of Action Xtreme, the UK’s first dedicated action studio and genre division of Sovereign, Chee oversees the development and production of action content while championing talent development initiatives, including the Women in Action Mentoring Programme and the world’s first MA in Feature Filmmaking with Falmouth University. He also leads Sovereign’s Distribution division, overseeing UK and international releases. His latest projects include The Experiment, Bad Day at the Office, and the Nigerian-set action thriller Son of the Soil, released in late 2025, with further releases continuing into 2026.
