WILD CARD

WHAT IS wild card?

Wild Card is an exciting new addition to the TNB XPO programme, created to spotlight original, standout submissions that were shortlisted but not selected for Lion’s Den or Pitch ‘N’ Mix. Alongside this, Wild Card also opens the door to brand-new entries through a general callout.

This strand is designed for Black filmmakers who bring fresh ideas, distinct perspectives and compelling concepts to the table. Selected participants will present their work live, receive expert feedback, and one filmmaker from each category will earn a coveted place in the Lion’s Den or Pitch ‘N’ Mix sessions at TNB XPO.

How it works

  • Wild Card selects 2 filmmakers per category to present in person.

  • Presentations will take place on: (DATE TBC)

  • Each filmmaker will have 3 minutes to pitch, followed by panel feedback.

  • One winner per category advances to the main Lion’s Den or Pitch ‘N’ Mix programme.

  • Winners are announced on the same day as the Wild Card event.

eligibility & criteria

Projects are judged primarily on:

  1. Originality

  2. Relevance

  3. Strength of concept

  4. Clarity of the filmmakers vision

Guidelines follow the same requirement as the Lion’s Den and Pitch ‘N’ mix categories respectively, including CV, bio, presenting-filmmaker photo, and social media handles
