WHAT IS lions den?

Lion’s Den is our premier pitching platform for Black filmmakers with ambitious long-form projects in development. Designed as a high-visibility industry forum, Lion’s Den gives creators the chance to present their visions directly to a panel of investors, broadcasters, commissioners and an engaged public audience.

Each year, we select a small number of outstanding scripted or documentary projects that demonstrate originality, creative clarity and the potential to make a meaningful cultural impact. During TNB XPO, finalists will pitch live, receive constructive industry feedback, and one filmmaker will be awarded the LION’S DEN WINNER title.

what we’re looking for

Pitch ‘n’ Mix is open to:

  • Scripted feature films

  • TV Series

  • Feature-length or episodic documentaries

  • No reality or game-show concepts

Projects of all genres are welcome. Film and TV entries are judged together on the strength of the idea and the filmmaker’s unique vision.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

To apply, filmmakers mjust provide:

  1. A full pitch deck in PowerPoint format (final version will be used for the live presentation).

  2. Optional sizzle reel, proof of concept of trailer (max of 30 seconds)

  3. Filmmaker CV

  4. Bio

  5. Photo of the presenting filmmaker

  6. Social media handles

We encourage creators to clearly articulate what sets their project apart: Why this story? Why now? And why are you the one to tell it?

The winning filmmaker will:

  • Pitch their developing project to a room of industry decision-makers.

  • Screen one completed short film as part of the XPO.

  • Gain critical exposure, feedback and networking opportunities.
