WORK IT!:

BLACK WOMEN mean business

The New Black Film Collective presents 'Work It!: Black Women Mean Business' season supported by Film Hub London. Reflecting the recent progress being made in Hollywood, we are proud to showcase three films that are led by Black women (two of which have Black female directors & screenwriters!) through this programme. What they all have in common is that each film is a comedy set in the workplace and tackle the double whammy of racism and sexism. It is extremely important that we have this representation for women of colour and that these issues are highlighted for a point of reference for those seeking equality. Furthermore, these titles open up a dialogue about sexual politics from the boardroom to the bedroom, as this often culturally appropriated group, strive to move from the tag of the 'angry Black woman' and wrestle free from being hyper-sexualised in general. Instead, it is time for their Black Girl Magic to shine.
